The creation of Ecothreesixty came about after we looked looked on-line for sustainable and ethically-minded accommodation.  We found the odd eco resort here, an eco lodge there, but were left with the thought, "how many people who actually want to stay at an eco-concious or ethically run accommodation are going to spend hours trolling through the web, until they find what they are looking for?".  We thought about it for a while and came to the conclusion that the answer was "not many".  So after a bit of research we decided to jump in and see what we could do.  

Ecothreesixty provides you with a directory of sustainable and ethical accommodation from around the world.  More and more travellers are becoming aware of the impact that their travel is having on the world, and we want to ensure that travellers can make sustainable choices that will be of benefit to the world and its people.  While still having a great time while staying at eco resorts, eco lodges or eco hotels.

Currently thinking about the environment, local communities and the sustainability of the places you visit while travelling is still very much a niche area within the wider world of travel.   Ecothreesixty is dedicated to ensuring that in the future, there will be no other way to think about travel and accommodation, than from a sustainable and ethical point of view.  We realise that it may take sometime, but we know we'll get there.   

We believe every accommodation listed on this site is committed to operating a sustainable business, and that the operators believe in minimising the impact of  accommodation business on the environment, or they as a business are committed to helping improve the lives of the local community and in many cases both.  We do our very best to ensure that destinations we list to have strong environmental, ethical or sustainable credentials.  

The one size fits all approach is not something we believe in, some acommodation we list has very impressive environmental and or ethical credentials, but the do not have any accreditation from one of the numerous NGOs who work with the field of eco-tourism certify eco and ethical accommodation.  Conversely we have chosen not to list some accommodation providers because they have environmental certification, but is only at the most basic entry level certification.  We provide you with as much information as we can, so you can make an informed choice.  We think you should decide which the best place is for you.  Ecothreesixty is here for people who like to make their own choices and once you have made your choice, we want you to be able to make booking, in as easy and simple manner as possible.
