Diving
Heron Island is known the world over for its Great Barrier Reef scuba diving and snorkelling. The island’s proximity to the reef allows you to enjoy as many as three different full dives a day. There are more than 20 different dive sites to explore, more than half of which are just fifteen minutes from the beach. Acres of living, unspoiled coral are literally teeming with fish, it's easy to see why serious divers keep coming back to Heron Island. One of the dive sites ‘The Heron Bommie’ has been described by Jacques Cousteau as being one of his top ten favourite dive sites.
The deepest dive is 18m and is first up for the morning and is followed by a 16m and a 14m dive. Every dive is accompanied by a qualified dive guide and is watched over by a lookout and skipper fully certified in dive first aid. All dives are chosen for the prevailing conditions and visibility. Aside from the night dives, the dives are easily within the ability and comfort zone of even the most novice diver.
Diving Includes:
World class diving on the Great Barrier Reef, all dive sites are located within a Marine National Park, shallow reef dives, long bottom times can be arranged, buoyed dive sites, stable platform style boats with shaded canopies, Divemasters present on all dives, giant stride entries and exit via wide ladders, there is no carrying of tanks or weights at any time, night dives, highest quality dive equipment, up to three dives per day. *Referral Dive courses and Open Water Dive courses must be booked in advance. If you wish to complete an Open Water Dive course, you will also be required to complete a dive medical prior to arrival.
