To maximize your Karijini experience, Karijini Eco Retreat has teamed up with Pilbara Gorge Tours, Lestok Tours and West Oz Active tours to offer you a broad range of specially designed, nature-based tours. These tours are truly the best way to appreciate the spectacular surrounds of Karijini National Park and immerse yourself in its absolute beauty, grandeur, cultural and historical significance.

Each tour company offers its own special combination of local knowledge of flora, fauna, history or geology along with cultural sensitivity, a sense of fun and the opportunity to get back to nature. The tour companies program may evolve and change over time and is designed to appeal to a wide range of interests, age groups and fitness levels.

West Oz Active is an adventure tour company based at, and working in conjunction with the Eco Retreat in Karijini National Park.  West Oz Active is designed for guests who are after a hands on adventure. West Oz Active tours include activities such as climbing, hiking, abseiling, waterslides, swimming, jumping and floating through the gorges on inflatable rafts.  All of the trips take you through the class 6 sections of gorges, which other operators and the general public cannot access.

Karijini Eco Retreat is a unique, environmentally friendly and ecologically sound accommodation development located in the depths of the breathtaking Karijini National Park just 35km from the Karijini Visitors Centre in the nature-based destinations of the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Guests are treated to a range of accommodations and on-site facilities. Karijini Eco Retreat offers an authentic outback experience at an affordable price whilst operating in perfect harmony with the environment. The goal is to act as a leader in sustainable tourism principles by meeting the highest possible standards of environmental responsibility.

The retreat uses solar panels and eco-friendly waste water treatment systems/sewerage systems.  The water is provided by an installed bore and the Retreat make sure the per visitor consumption target is not exceeded.  Use of low flow showerheads & spring loaded taps to minimize the water volumes & the grey water produced.  The retreat collects and recycles all recyclables.  Eco-friendly policies and use of signs showing visitors how to protect the environment.  The Retreat is constructed from recycled materials and is designed to maximize natural ventilation via tropical roof.

Opened in  April 2007, Karijini Eco Retreat is expected to help shape and enhance the future of tourism in the Pilbara region. Thanks to the co-operation of the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) and other public agencies, this development is the first of its kind in the Park.

Owned by the Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC), developed by Eco Constructions and managed by The Eco Company (Ecomodation), the Karijini Eco Retreat was born to develop a portfolio of substantial and diversified commercial assets. The development was an essential part of the long-term commitment of Gumala to bring socio-economic benefits to the region whilst acknowledging the wider tourism industry benefits.

Alfresco Restaurant (Exclusive)A visit to the Alfreso Restaurant is a great way to end a day of exploring the natural wonders of Karijini National Park. Due to the remote location of the Retreat all food is cooked on the BBQ but still expect your taste buds to be tantalised by the menu of their unique "outback fusion style cuisine".
