A manor house hotel set within the charming Bygholm Park near central Horsens.

The town of Horsens in Eastern Jutland has a long and proud history, the remains of King Erik Menved's Castle are just a short walk from the hotel and stand as testament to this.  If you fancy a bit of a walk and want to explore the some of Horsens prehistory you can visit Passage Grave "Jættestuen" a huge Neolithic burial chamber, but remember to take a torch.

For such a modestly sized town there's plenty of museums; the Glud Museum closer to the heart of the town gives you an understanding of Denmark's rural past and has the oldest dated farmhouse in Denmark.  There's also Horsens Museum of Art and Horsens Museum.  The surrounding is area dotted with churches which range from positively modern to the more classical Danish styles.  There's also plenty of beaches on the surrounding area of Horsens fjord

The hotel is also a great base for annual festivals that are held in the town like the European Medieval Festival in August or the "Crime Fair" (crime fiction, not actual criminals fortunately) which takes place at the end of March.

Dining

The Havestuen restaurant is quite a dining experience from the moment you walk through the door, you'd be forgiven for thinking you've stepped into the late 1700s, as the rooms walls and ceiling have remained unchanged since that time.  The cuisine on offer is Nordic in style and taste with some modern touches thrown in.  The restaurant has access as well as views to the grounds, in the summer it is possible to sit out and enjoy the beautiful surrounding parkland.  The restaurant can cater to 60 seated guests.  The bar of the hotel is very relaxed, in part because of the large leather sofas that you can help you take the weight off your feet.  The bar serves speciality coffee, wine and cocktails.  You can also order bar snacks, or order from the restaurant menu.  There is also room service, which can bring whatever you desire from the room service menu.  Breakfast is included in the cost of your stay.
