The Scandic chain of hotel have been developing their environmental policy since the early 1990s.  As a result they far more advanced in terms of the minimisation measures taken by The Scandic Sonderborg adheres to the company wide environmental policy 

take the impact of their hotels on the environment very seriously.  As a result they have created their own very detailed environmental policy which Scandic Silkenborg adheres to.  

The hotel manages its waste generated by it operation in a number of ways.  Water waste is reduced by efficient taps and shower heads fitted through out the hotel.  Water is filtered so tap water is a pure as bottled water,  reducing the need for bottled water.  Energy is sourced from renewable sources rather than traditional fossil fuel-based sources.  Power is conserved through the use of low energy light bulbs and room key controlled lighting. All the staff at the hotel have been trained in the best environmental practises in relation to the operation of the hotel.

The restaurant serves a mixture of traditional Danish cuisine with some innovative twists and exciting flavours all created in an open kitchen.  The restaurant can seat 42 diners, and has an large windows which bathe the dining room in light.  The hotels lobby bar serves a variety of snacks, as well as wines and wide selection of local beers.  Breakfast is free at the Scandic Sonderborg.  

The hotel is easily reached via the Omsfartsvejen road on the outskirts of Sonderborg.
