The Scandic Kuopio Hotel has an indoor pool with panoramic views of Lake Kallavesi.

While at the hotel check out the Kuopio attractions like the Kuopio Natural History Museum with its exhibtions on human pre-history as well a full-size woolly mammoth and exhibitions on local wildlife.  You can look out at the stunning Lake Kallavesi and taking in the views from Puijo Tower.  

Business needs large social functions are very well served within the hotel.  Banquets of up to 450 can be catered for within the elegant banqueting rooms.  The 8 meeting and conference rooms can accommodate up to 250 business delegates.

You can enjoy the scenery of lake as you swim in the indoor pool or relax in the Jacuzzi, or perhaps let off some steam in one of the 3 saunas.  There is also a fitness room if you want to work out and if you want to explore the local surroundings by pedal power you can borrow a bike from the hotel and go off for a ride.  

For parents bringing their kids to the hotel there is plenty of things to do.  There are "Play Modules", kids TV channels, activities like drawing, reading, as well as "Film-Time" and computer games.  The restaurant has buffet for kids and high chairs for small children.  Kids stay for free at the hotel (under 13s)

The hotel has 3 rooms for the disabled, these rooms have been specifically designed for the use of wheel chair users.  Fixtures and fittings are all set at a height which is lower than in a standard room.  The rooms have their own en-suite bathrooms which have also been altered accordingly for wheel chair users.  There are 2 disabled parking spaces, and where required there are ramps and most common areas have concessions for wheelchair users.  Hearing loops are available at reception and guide dogs are welcome at the hotel.  

The hotel has 80 charge-free outside parking spaces, heating plugs for engines are available from the hotel in the winter months.  

Free wireless internet access if provided through out the hotel.  And there is also a shop, should you need to pick up any necessities.

The Scandic hotel chain has instituted the same company wide environmental policy for all of its hotels.  Which means that even is the hotel is yet to recieve an environmental award the the hotel still observes that same practices when it comes to the environment. 

The policy itself includes ongoing monitoring of the environmental impact of hotels, the constant drive for improvement, as well as environmental training for all staff.  There is sustainability buildings policy, which ensures that contractors who can prove that their operations are committed to minimising  their impact on the environment are given priority when contracts are awarded and non-toxic materials are used in the construction or maintenance of the hotel. Energy is conserved by the use of low energy light bulbs, room key controlled lighting.  Water is conserved with the use of efficient taps and showers, low-flush toilets.  In terms of foods, beverages and consumable goods, "eco-friendly" cleaning products through out, no GM food is served at the hotel, organic food served wherever possible and all coffee is "fairtrade", and sustainability fund.

The Mesimarja restaurant offers rather stylish dining with views out over the lake, where you can take in the natural wonders while try fresh water dishes or perhaps a reindeer steak.  The hotel bar serves snacks as well as tea and coffee through out the day.  Or if you would like to sample some local offerings Finnish Lapin Kulta lager is on offer as is wine and cocktails.  

The hotel offers room service you can order from the bar or the restaurant a full kids menu from the restaurant is also available on room service.  Gluten-free dishes are also on offer.  Your breakfast is included within the price of your stay.
