You can easily enjoy discovering all of the attractions of Gothenburg as they are not far from the hotel's doorstep. Shopping, museums and open-topped boat tours are only 5 minutes away. Guests visiting The University of Gothenburg only have to take a short walk from the hotel. Sweden's Exhibition and Conference Centre Svenska Massan is just a brief cab ride away.

back to topFor children staying at the hotel there is plenty to do. The hotel has mobile play modules, "Film Time" for kids, there's also jigsaws, kids TV channels, books to read, drawing and computer games. Within in the restaurant there is a "kids menu" there are also high-chairs for babies and small children. It may come as a welcome surprise Children stay free at the Scandic Rubinen (under 13s).
The hotel offers bicycles and walking poles to keep fit in the surroundings nearby, both can be borrowed free of charge from reception. There is a gym with the hotel which has an exercise bike, cross-trainer, multi-gym, fitness ball and treadmill.
There are 4 rooms for the disabled within the hotel. The common areas within the main areas of the hotel are all on one level there are automatic doors at the entrance. The rooms for the disabled have modified to ease the use of wheelchair users. The en-suite bathrooms of each have also been modified and include an energy alarm. Hearing loops are available at reception, and mobile hearing loops are available for guests attending business meetings at the hotel. Guide dogs are welcome at the hotel.
The hotel is well-suited to the needs of the business traveller with its 3meeting rooms. The hotel has the capacity to accommodate up to 60 delegates.
Parking is available through the hotel (it carried an additional charge).

back to topThe Swedish hotel chain that is Scandic hotels takes its commitment to the environment very seriously. Developing their environmental policy since 1993 as a result the elements of their commitment is very detailed. Elements that are included are: The management of waste into 22 categories which is then recycled wherever possible. The hotel uses renewable energy which is conserved using energy efficient appliances as well as fittings like; low energy light bulbs, room key controlled lighting. Water is conserved using water efficient appliances, efficient taps and showers and low-flush toilets. "Eco-Friendly" cleaning products are used through out the hotel. No GM food is served at the restaurant or anywhere within the hotel, organic food is served wherever possible and all coffee is fairtrade or a local ethical equivalent.

back to topFrom Gothenburg Landvetter Airport by bus:
The airport shuttle bus leaves Gothenburg Landvetter Airport and takes you into the city centre. Get off at the Park Aveny bus stop, turn left and walk along the road, Avenyn, in the direction of the city centre. Cross at the traffic lights and continue along that block. The Scandic Rubinen hotel is at the end of the block.
From Gothenburg Landvetter Airport by taxi:
Taxis will take you directly to the Scandic Rubinen hotel in around 20 minutes. If driving, take the trunk road 40 west towards Gothenburg. Take the exit towards Gårda and then follow signs for Liseberg amusement park and Scandinavium. Drive past Liseberg and turn right at the Svenska Mässan/Centrum (Swedish Exhibition Centre). Drive straight on and you will see the Scandic Opalen hotel on your left. Turn left at the hotel, continue straight and at the third traffic light, turn right. You are now on the Avenyn and the Scandic Rubinen hotel is located approximately 100 metres on your right.
From Gothenburg Central Station by bus:
From Gothenburg Central Station, take tram number 4 from the Drottningtorget tram stop, in the square outside the station. Get off at Valand tram stop and you will see the Scandic Rubinen hotel behind you.
From Gothenburg Central Station by taxi:
Taxis are available outside Gothenburg Central Station entrance and will take you directly to the Scandic Rubinen hotel, just half a mile away. The journey takes 7 minutes.
From Gothenburg City Airport by bus:
The shuttle bus from Gothenburg City Airport takes you directly to Gothenburg Central Station. Take tram number 4 from the Drottningtorget tram stop (in Drottningtorget square outside the station) to Valand tram stop and the Scandic Rubinen hotel is behind you.
From Gothenburg City Airport by car:
If driving from Gothenburg City Airport, follow signs for Kongahällavägen on the right and then turn right again for Tuvevägen. Next, take the left towards Norrleden, and then right for Kärravägen towards Klarebergsvägen. Follow road E6 towards Malmö and follow signs for Centrum, Gårda and Liseberg. Drive past Liseberg Amusement park and turn right by Svenska Mässan (Swedish Exhibition Centre) and Centrum. Turn left at the Scandic Opalen hotel, continue straight and at the third traffic light, turn right onto Avenyn, the Avenue. The hotel is located approximately 100 metres on your right.
