back to topGame Drive - You'll be taken out either in the early morning or evening in an open land rover, and be shown all the wildlife, by guides who have a wealth of local knowledge.
Bush Walk - The bush walk is a an authentic safari experience, you will be shown the wonders of the bushveld and see animals which comprise the big five in their natural habitat.
Hippo Tour - You'll see hippos in their natural habitat along with a good chance of seeing African Nile crocodiles.
Bush Breakfast - You’ll be driven to either the river hide or one of the open plains. To a fully set table from where you can view the wildlife up close whilst enjoying a full continental breakfast.
Bush Dinner - Under the African sky you're driven to secluded spot, lit by paraffin lamps and a big open camp fire, you can listen to the night sounds and enjoy a sumptuous meal cooked on the open-coals of the bush fire.
Astronomy - During the evening game drive you can lie back under the African sky and be taken on a journey through our ancient galaxy and learn about associated African folklore.
Activities – Excluded from the Tariff
Ballooning - The hour long flight takes you over the entire Sabie River valley as the sun rises over the plain. After the flight the you’ll be taken to one of the small country lodges within the Sabie River valley for a full English breakfast.
Helicopter Flight - This is a spectacular way of viewing Northern Drakensburg, home to some of South Africa's best known geographical landmarks. The helicopter flies towards Drakensburg arriving over theBlyde River Canyon where you get a close-up view of the Three Rondawels and the Blydepoort Dam. Flying out of the canyon, the helicopter passes over the Berlin and Lisbon falls on route to a secluded picnic spot next to the Pinnacle. After you’ve eaten the helicopter flies you past God's Window, Wonder View, Panorama Falls and over the town of Graskop before heading east back to Lion Sands.
Health Spa - In the local language of the Shangaan "Lalamuka" means unwind and that is exactly what the spa offers you. The lodge’s spa offers an array of body, facial & hydrotherapy treatments are available you can feel completely pampered and relaxed in the heart of the African bush.
Skukuza Golf Course - Kruger National Park has a unique 9-hole golf course. The course is unfenced, open to the reserve and it's not uncommon to have a round interrupted by a herd of zebra or a wandering giraffe.
Cultural Village Experience - The elders of the Shangaan nation, are intent on maintaining their heritage. You can visit the Huntington Home-Based Care Organisation and the Henna Pre-School, where you will get to meet the children, you will also be able to sample some of the local cuisine.
Clay Pigeon Shooting - If you fancy some open-plain shooting (without the hunting) there's a range 25 minutes drive from River Lodge, where a qualified ranger will ensure range safety. You can shoot of other calibre rifles, but only by special request.
Private Game Drives - The exclusive use of a private Land Rover can be arranged. Subject to availability.
Chalkley Treehouse - The treehouse is a secure bush bedroom under the African stars, built around a majestic 500 year-old Leadwood Tree, it has secure access and beautiful views extending over the plains, it has all the comforts that you'd expect from a five star safari lodge. You'
ll be taken to the treehouse at sunset, where drinks and a delicious picnic dinner await you as the absorbing the beauty bushveld. Before turning in beneath the stars. (maximum of 2 people).
