Relax at the Scandic Oulu hotel, newly built in a fresh Nordic style and located in Oulu city centre.

Oulu attractions which are on the hotels doorstep include the Botanic Gardens, Tietomaa Science Centre and the City Art museum as well a multiplex cinema just next door.  Once back at the hotel you can unwind in one of three traditional Finnish saunas.  

There is a 24Hr gym if you want to keep yourself in shape "out of hours".  The gym has cardiovascular equipment, free weights as well as running machines.  You could also choose to borrow a bike from the hotel reception and go for a ride and explore Oulu, without leaving a large carbon-footprint.  Once you have finished keeping up to date with your fitness regime you can relax in on of the 2 saunas.  

For guests staying at the hotel with their kids there are always fun things for them to do.  When kids arrive at the hotel they are presented with a welcome gift by hotel staff.  Then they can play computer games, get on with some drawing or reading, do a jigsaw or enjoy watching films at "Film Time".  The restaurant has a buffet for kids as well high chairs for small children,  and to top it all, every kids stay is free (under 13 years).  

For business guests there is the impressive "Think Tank" for brainstorming and the free flow of ideas in cool, relaxed environment, or there is the other 8 meeting/conference rooms, which can accommodate from 12 -160 people, in modern spacious rooms with plenty of natural light.  

The hotel has 4 rooms for disabled guests these rooms have been modified for wheelchair users.  Light switches, door handles and other fittings have been lowered, for ease of use.  Each room has its own en-suite bathroom which again has been modified for wheelchair users (the bathroom has an emergency alarm).  

The hotel provides free wireless internet access in every public area of the hotel as well as guests rooms.  

The hotel has some parking, which carries an additional charge.

The  Scandic Oulo is part of the Swedish hotel chain "Scandic". The Scandic hotel chain have developed a comprehensive environmental policy and the Scandic Oulo is run in accordance with the Scandic environmental policy.  

The Scandic environmental policy includes elements which ensures all areas of the hotels operation.  Staff are all trained to observe the environmental policy while working at the hotel.  They separate waste into one of 22 categories and the then ensure that any waste that can be recycled is recycled.  Whilst ensuring that the hotel is kept clean the staff use only "eco-friendly" cleaning products.  In the kitchen, at the restaurant and at the bar no GM food is served.  All coffee served by staff is either "fairtrade" or an ethical equivalent.  Organic food is served by hotel staff wherever it is possible to do so.  

In terms of energy and water consumption at the hotel these are controlled using fittings low energy light bulbs, room key controlled lighting as well as efficient taps and showers, low-flush toilets.  Electrical and water appliances which have provable environmental benefits have been installed.

The "Torilla" restaurant within the hotel offers Italian and Mediterranean cuisine in the hotel courtyard's Torilla restaurant.  While the "Movie Diner" close to the cinema is more casual affair with snack food favourites like hamburgers, tortillas, pizzas and array of ice cream choices.  The bar offers snacks, espressos, wine, beers and cocktails all in a very comfy environment, ideal for relaxing at the end of a busy day.  The cost of your breakfast is included within the price of your stay.
