Scandic Pori - Finland

The Scandic Pori is a stylish hotel in central Pori.  

Nearby Pori attractions include the Pori Theatre as well as Kirjurinluoto Island which is home to the Kirjurinluoto Arena which hosts the Pori International Jazz Festival every July, as well plenty of other large open-air events through out the year.  Kirjurinluoto Island is just a mile away an so very easy to reach from the hotel.  If you fancy travelling a little further afield there are the white sands of Yyteri beach, 12 miles away.  The Pori Airport is just 2.5 km from the hotel.  

For business guests the hotel is perfect for meetings and conferences, it has 6  Spacious and well equipped meeting rooms.  The largest of the 6 meeting rooms can accommodate up to 40 delegates.  You could also combine business with pleasure and book the sauna for a meeting. 

For parents staying at the hotel with their children there is plenty to keep them busy during their stay.  There are "mobile play modules", they can draw, play computer games, watch kids TV channels or read.  The restaurant welcomes children, there is a "kids menu" and high chairs for smaller children.  Children under 13 years old stay at the hotel for free.  

The gym in the hotel has both aerobic equipment and free weights, in the steam room there are 2 single-sex saunas which look out of Pori skyline from the 7th floor of the hotel.  If you want to spread your wings outside the hotel, you can ask to borrow a bike (free of charge) from reception or follow a local jogging route on one of the maps available at reception.  Outside the hotel there is a nearby swimming pool, and there is also the Kalafornia Golf course.  

The hotel 1 room for the disabled, which has been modified for a wheelchair user.  The room has an en-suite bathroom which has also been modified.  There are 2 parking spaces for handicapped drivers at the hotel.  Public areas have a disabled toilet, there is a lift within the hotel.  Hearing loops are available at reception.  Guide dogs are welcome at the hotel.  

The hotel has 27 indoor parking spaces in basement of hotel (which carry an additional charge).  There are a further 14 outside parking spaces, which are free, but which require a permit from reception.  

There is free wireless internet access through out the hotel.

The Scandic Pori hotel is part of the Scandic hotel chain which are Swedish company that like many Scandinavian businesses take a interest in the effect their business has on the environment.  As the hotel is part of the Scandic chain it is covered by the Scandic environmental policy.  

In making a commitment to driving down the impact that the every hotel in the chain has on the environment, the Scandic environmental policy covers all elements of the daily functions of the hotel.  Energy is sourced from renewable sources rather than non-renewable sources.  Energy waste is limited by the hotels installation of energy efficient electrical appliances as well as fittings such as room-key controlled lighting and low energy usage light bulbs.  Water is conserved again with the use of water efficient appliances and fittings which include low-flush toilets as well as taps and shower heads that limit the amount of water used.  Cleaning undertaken by staff is done with "eco-friendly" cleaning products.  Food served at the hotel is all GM free, all coffee is fair trade or ethically produced coffee of another brand.  Organic food is served wherever possible.

You can enjoy "international cuisine" and classic Italian dishes at Restaurant Olivo within the hotel.  Room Service is also available during the opening hours of the restaurant.  (A room service charge applies).The hotel bar is the "Pori bar" which has a Mediterranean theme, where you can enjoy a local beer or try a Finlandia Lime Fusion cocktail.  There is a summer terrace as well as big screen TV for major sporting events.  Breakfast is free at the hotel.
