Scandic Lugnet - Falun - Sweden

The Scandic Lugnet Hotel is a 10 minute walk from Falun town centre.

The hotel has excellent road links, as it is very close to the R80 highway.  The  Falun Campus of Dalarna University is literally, right next door.  There are sport and leisure facilities at Falun Campus as well as beautiful countryside are within walking distance.  If you go a little further you can check out Falun's attractions which include the Mining Museum.  There's also skating and cross country skiing in winter and canoeing and cycling in summer at Lake Runn. which is 2 kilometres away.  

For business guests there are 9 meeting rooms, which can be set-up in a number of different ways for business meetings, seminars and board meetings. The great situation of the hotel and its proximity to the R80 highway and its plentiful parking mean its a perfect venue.  

Guests who enjoy sport and fitness training, the hotel gym has, gym balls, crosstrainer, treadmill and free weights.  After working up a sweat you can take a dip in the pool and perhaps relax with some bowling in the hotels in house bowling alley.  Or just work up a sweat in the sauna. Outside the hotel there's also Swedish National Ski Stadium not far where there are skiing and skating options.  

For children staying at the hotel there's plenty to do.  On arrival they are given a welcome gift.  Once they've settle in they can enjoy, play computer games, watch films at "film time", draw, do jigsaws, read.  There are high chairs in the restaurant as well as "kids menu".  Another added bonus is that children under 13 stay free of charge. 

The hotel has 1 room for a disabled guest.  The room has been designed so that everything is at the right right for a wheelchair user, both in the room itself and also in the en-suite bathroom.  Hearing loops are available at reception, mobile hearing loops are available for guests using the meeting room facilities.  Guide dogs are welcome at the hotel.  

Parking at the hotel is easy as there are 160 free parking spaces for the use of hotel guests at the car park which is adjacent to the hotel.   (You will need to obtain a parking voucher from reception when you arrive at the hotel.)

The hotel provides all guests at the hotel with free wireless internet access, whatever their location.

The Scandic hotel chain is perhaps one of the most progressive hotel chains in the world when it comes to minimising the impact its business operations have on the environment.  They initially started to develop their company wide environmental policy in 1993.  

The policy is nothing if not comprehensive covering all elements of the operation of the Scandic Lugnet hotel.  Energy is sourced from renewable sources rather than non-renewable carbon sources.  Energy efficient appliances are used, these include washing machines, dishwashers,  low energy light bulbs and room key controlled lighting,Materials and suppliers with strong environmental credentials are given priority for contracts for either construction or maintenance of the hotel.  No toxic building materials are used within the hotel.  "Eco-friendly" cleaning products are used in the cleaning of the hotel.  All waste is sorted into one of 22 separate categories and is recycled wherever possible.

The Lugnet Bistro restaurant within the hotel serves both traditional Swedish dishes as well as modern cuisine.  In typically clean and minimalist Scandinavian surroundings of oak and black leather, the restaurant also has a log fire.  The hotel also has a modest bar, which serves an assortment of beverages.  And breakfast is free at the hotel.
